PROJECT
Medical device based on nanovesicles to eradicate Papilloma Virus
DESCRIPTION
The project aims to develop an innovative formulation based on plant nanovesicles for the prevention and treatment of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and condylomatous lesions.
Libera Biotech's solution to counteract the papilloma virus is based on a medical device consisting of polyphenols, mainly flavonoids, which have shown evident antitumor characteristics. Polyphenols are ubiquitously found in plants, and their regular consumption has been associated with a reduced risk of numerous chronic diseases.
The current therapy for chronic HPV infection, in addition to the surgical removal of lesions in situ, consists of the use, often simultaneous, of a series of antivirals and some chemotherapeutic agents, which have never been shown to eradicate the infection hence the formation of condylomas. To date, the removal of condylomas is essential to avoid both the multiplication and spread of lesions and possible malignant transformation. Libera's medical device eradicates condylomas, avoiding both recurrences and their evolution into tumor forms, without the intake of medications and/or surgical interventions.
